We are a family run business with over 20 years of experience within the field. Stu is a keen carp angler and owning his own lake was his dream. So we made a life changing decision and arrived in France in 2008! We all share a love of the outdoors and the French lifestyle was a perfect choice for the family and our many animals! 

Living in a remote environment has had a lasting effect on our children, whom have now chosen career paths connected within our lifestyle. 

Thalia is a qualified Marine Biologist, with a 1st class Masters in Marine Vertebrate Ecology and Conservation at Exeter University and  worked as a Marine Scientist Researcher for Bangor University. She now works as Marine Biologist Consultant at Pelagia Nature and Environment in Sweden.

Iestyn has a passion for carp fishing, and spends his life on the bank, building a name for himself in the fishing world. He passed his French Aquaculture Baccalaureate in 2021 and graduated from Sparsholt University with a Degree in Sports Fisheries  and Aquaculture in 2023. He currently works as a manager and bailiff at Etang de Villaine and is also sponsored by Angling Technics.

Janet is the only exception and graduated as an Interior Designer in 2019 at The National Design Academy. She created and runs the Etang de Villaine website and also project manages a property renovation in the UK.

As a family we pride ourselves on running a extremely friendly non-commercial carp fishery for our clientele, of whom many have now become good friends. We are here to provide an unrivaled 24 hour service to those who just want to relax and enjoy carp fishing in breathtaking French countryside.
